everyday daphne #9

i wonder if anyone even likes these posts-
but, i guess i do so that's why i keep doing them :)

today is the last nice day of the week. the rest of the week will require busting back out our long sleeve shirts, jackets and pants. oh no.

even though today isn't going to be super warm- it will be just warm enough (also it's laundry day)
daph is wearing:

checked black and white shirt, old navy
army green shorts, thrifted $1.
white cardigan, thrifted $3
red gap shoes, thrifted $2
headband by Kendra $2.50 (i think.. :)

OFF TOPIC: We need some parenting advice. we think it's time for daphne to give up her binky obsession. she's nearly 16 months and she's starting to talk more and more everyday (not usually understandable, but she's trying) we've tried just leaving her binks in the crib for sleeping but she just whines and cries until we get them. we were thinking about going cold turkey last week but she had immunizations, got 2 molars and both nic and i had food poisoning so she spent the night with Grammy.

but, is there EVER a good time or should we just do it? for those of you who have been through this... please leave us your advice!

Cute little monkey, I love that you post her different outfits I read them every time! Kendall never liked his binkie so we were let off easy he gave it up around three months. I've heard of parents gathering all the binkies in the house and telling their baby it's time to be a big girl, and having her put them in the trash. Then taking the trash out. I don't know if that would work I guess it just depends on their personality.

I do love these posts! They are so fun. I have thought about copying you and doing them for JR but they would all be pretty much the same thing, so maybe not. Wish I could help on the bink thing. But we could never get JR to take them.

I love these posts! Keep them up!

And about the binky...

Jude still has his. Around a year we tried to keep it at just nap time and bedtime, but when he was sick or having a bad day we were pretty easy on letting him have it all the time. Since we've moved into our house he's been very good on putting it away in a little bear box when it is time to be awake. Until now I don't think he's been old enough to understand giving it away or throwing it away or anything like that. We are going to try the cold turkey move when we get back from Vegas in May. I'll let you know how it goes. I don't think Daph is beyond the age where she needs to give it up though. Try letting her put it away in something before letting her out of her crib, explaining that she has to put away the binky before she gets out. It worked well with Jude. Good luck! And if YOU find anything that works, let ME know! :)

thanks Rayna!
I def. agree that daph would not understand throwing them away at this point. i tried to talk to her about only babies having binkies but then the rest of the morning i squeezed her and called her my cutest little baby so i guess that's counter productive :)

a girl i know just did cold turkey with her 16 month old. she said the first 2 days were HORRIBLE! she cried all the time, but after the 2 days, she was totally fine. she doesn't even try to steal them from other babies when she sees them.

good luck and let me know how Jude handles going cold turkey!

have so much fun in vegas!!!
